The right coverage is about what goes into it

Good coverage is built from the right details.

Look beyond the package name and monthly cost. Explore the limits, deductibles, protections and conditions that shape your coverage.

iBasis Global presents auto, travel and health insurance options and organizes the components, costs and conditions that determine how each package works, so you can examine them one by one.

Four details that can change how coverage works.

Two options can share a similar name and still work differently. The difference usually sits in the underlying terms. These four components are a practical place to begin.

Premium

The amount paid for coverage, usually monthly or annually. It is the most visible number in an option, and only one part of what you are comparing.

03 Premium · Deductible · Exposure

A lower premium doesn't tell you the whole story.

The premium is what you pay regularly. The deductible is part of what you may pay yourself if a covered loss occurs. Together they shape your financial exposure: how much of a loss could remain your responsibility.

Neither structure is better in every case. Price is only one part of a comparison. It is equally worth examining the limits, the events that are covered, the deductibles, the exclusions and any other terms that apply.

These are hypothetical structures for explanation only. They are not iBasis Global prices or plans.

A question worth asking

“What would you rather manage regularly, and what could you reasonably handle if a covered loss occurred?”

04 Exclusions · Conditions

The small print can change the answer.

A coverage heading alone does not describe every circumstance in which protection applies. Policy wording may contain exclusions, conditions, definitions or restrictions that affect particular situations.

When you review an option, these five questions help you read past the heading.

  1. What events or losses are covered?

Start with the situations the policy is written to respond to, as described in its own wording.

  2. What is specifically excluded?

Exclusions name circumstances or losses the policy does not cover, even when they sit close to a covered category.

  3. Does a deductible apply?

Some coverages have a deductible and others may not. Amounts can also differ between parts of the same policy.

  4. Are there separate limits for particular types of loss?

An overall limit may sit alongside smaller limits for specific items, services or categories.

  5. Are there conditions that must be met for coverage to apply?

Conditions can include requirements such as timely notice, documentation or other obligations described in the policy.

Specific terms vary by policy. Always refer to the policy wording of the option you are considering.

05 Overlap · Duplication

When two types of coverage seem to do the same thing.

Different forms of coverage can look alike because they respond to related situations. Their triggers, limits, deductibles, exclusions or covered expenses may still differ. Similar-sounding protections are not necessarily identical.

Question 01

What event activates each protection?

Each coverage has its own trigger: the event or circumstance that makes it respond. Two protections can relate to the same situation and still be activated by different events.

Reading the purpose and terms of each component can reveal whether protections complement one another or address substantially similar situations.

06 Package reading guide

Read a package from the inside out.

Before you look at our packages, here is a useful order for examining any insurance option. Each stage adds one consideration, and the price is read last, alongside everything else.

Assembly 01 / 05
Protection
  1. Stage 01 · Protection

    What protection is included?

Start with what the coverage actually addresses. Read the list of protections before anything else.

  2. Stage 02 · Limits

    What are the limits?

See how much protection may be available and whether separate limits apply to particular types of loss.

  3. Stage 03 · Out of pocket

    What could you pay yourself?

Identify applicable deductibles and other potential out-of-pocket responsibilities.

  4. Stage 04 · Terms

    What conditions and exclusions apply?

Read the circumstances that affect how coverage works, including what is excluded and what must be done for coverage to apply.

  5. Stage 05 · Cost

    What does the coverage cost?

Consider price together with everything above rather than viewing it in isolation.

07 Frequently asked questions

    What does iBasis Global do?

iBasis Global offers insurance services and coverage in three areas: auto insurance, travel insurance and health insurance. For each type of coverage, we break down the components that shape it: premiums, deductibles, coverage limits, exclusions and conditions. This lets you see exactly what a policy covers, and what it costs, before you make a coverage decision.

  • The premium is the amount you pay for coverage, usually monthly or annually. The deductible is an amount you may need to pay yourself before certain coverage begins paying for a covered loss. Whether a deductible applies, and how much it is, depends on the policy.

  • Not necessarily. A lower premium can come with a higher deductible, lower limits or different exclusions. A useful comparison looks at what is covered, how much may be paid, what you could pay yourself and which conditions apply, alongside the price.

  • A coverage limit is the maximum amount a policy may pay for a covered loss or a category of loss, subject to its terms. Some policies have an overall limit as well as separate, smaller limits for particular items, services or types of loss.

  • Exclusions describe circumstances or losses a policy does not cover. Conditions are requirements that may need to be met for coverage to apply, such as giving notice within a certain time or providing documentation. Both are set out in the policy wording.

  • Yes. A package name describes its general purpose, not every term. Two options with similar names can differ in their covered events, limits, deductibles, exclusions and conditions, which is why reading the underlying details matters.

  • You can explore auto insurance, travel insurance and health insurance. Each package is presented with its components organized in the same way, so the details are easier to examine side by side.

  • Use the Contact Us page to send us your question. We can walk you through the components of a package, explain the terminology and point you to the details that are most relevant to what you are comparing.

Answers are general explanations. Specific terms vary by policy, so always refer to the policy wording of the option you are considering.
